Automotive paints are a specialised area of coatings, but still a very important one in terms of global volume and value. Like decorative and industrial paints, automotive paints consume TiO2 pigment, as well as filler and extender minerals such as kaolin, talc and calcium carbonate. Mica is used to give a pearlescent or iridescent lustre to automotive finishes.
