SQM Q3 profit drops 57%

Chile-based group reports lower sales for fertiliser, iodine and lithium

SQM SA posted a 57% drop in net income for Q3 2009 to $82.9m., mainly due to the collapse in demand for potash from fertiliser producers during the economic downturn, the Chile-based potash, iodine and lithium producer announced.
