Shipping rate slide persists

Baltic Dry Index carries on falling as shipping market adjusts to winter coal demand

Shipping rates for dry bulk fell again this week, as winter coal demand from Asian countries began to be satisfied.


The Baltic Dry Index (BDI) was down to 3902 on 8 December ’09, with Capesize, Panamax, Supramax, and Handysize on, 5948, 3989, 2314, and 1210 respectively.
