TZMI 2010: RBM tailings plant to boost zircon capacity; problems at QMM

Rio Tinto Plc has invested $158m. in a tailings treatment plant at its Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) operation in South Africa to boost zircon production.

The expansion, which was approved in 2008, will improve mineral recovery and extend the operation’s zircon mining life by five years.
