US speciality chemicals producer posts 14% increase in first quarter income

Increased sales of soda ash and lithium helped FMC Corp. increase its operating income by 14% in the first quarter of 2011.

The US agricultural and speciality chemicals group reported an operating income of $155m., up from $135.9m. in the same period last year.
