Japan-backed Dong Pao mining project in Vietnam expected to start up in 2013

The Japanese government has advanced agreements with Vietnam and India on cooperating on developing rare earth projects.

Resource-poor Japan is the world’s largest importer of rare earths, and has been actively seeking alternative supply sources to lessen its reliance on Chinese exports.
