Southern Ionics to produce 13,000 tpa zircon for downstream zirconium chemicals

US speciality chemicals producer Southern Ionics Inc. (SII) has initiated feasibility studies at a zircon deposit in Brantley and Charlton counties, south-east Georgia, to feed a new zirconium oxychloride (ZOC) plant in Alabama.
