US dry bulk ports in path of deadly storm add to concerns in a bearish shipping market

Rates for shipping dry bulk raw materials were soft this week as several US ports were disrupted by hurricane Sandy, which ripped along the country’s north-east coast on Tuesday evening.

The outlook for global steel consumption was also gloomy as demand remained low.
