US seeks to break Chinese supply monopoly; African projects advance

China’s Aluminum Corporation(Chalco) confirmed that it has halted operations at four rare earth smelting and separation factories, Chinese media sources reported this week.

The announcement comes on the back of similar moves by Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Rare-Earth Hi-Tech, China Minmetals Corporation, and China Nonferrous Metal Mining...
