Rio Tinto sees poor uptake in second zircon auction

Auction price below market price; future prices could be even lower

Anglo-Australian miner Rio Tinto Plc put up 15,000 tonnes zircon for auction in China on Wednesday, market sources revealed to IM.

Of the total, 3,570 tonnes were sold at a starting price of $1,500/tonne, according to sources. This is below the current market price of between $1,800 and $2,000/tonne....
