US crude oil output passes 10% mark of global production

Proppants are used in the extraction of shale oil and gas, therefore continuing increase of production in the US, will lead to a boom in the silica sand industry. Furthermore, with demand for US oil and gas from Europe, as a result of tensions in Russia, production could further increase.
US overall crude oil increased in Q4 2013, from 9% of total
world production in Q4 2012 to 10% during the same quarter last
year, thanks to increased shale oil extraction.
