MTI records better than expected growth in Q1 refractories sales

US-based Minerals Technologies Inc. recorded solid earnings for the first quarter of 2013 from its existing PCC and refractories-focused businesses and is now looking to expand into oilfield markets with bentonite products following its $1.7bn takeover of AMCOL.

US refractory and speciality minerals company Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTI) said that its sales of refractory products in Europe and the Middle East had outperformed expectations during the first quarter of 2014.
