Chinese firm to mine 200,000 tpa diatomite in Kenya

The development of Kenya’s diatomite reserves, located along the country’s Rift Valley, will increase global supplies of the filtration mineral at a time of growing demand.

China’s Chuanshan International Co. has entered a $68m deal with the Kenyan government to begin mining diatomite in Baringo County in western Kenya.
