DuPont forecasts HFOs to be used by 3m vehicles by 2014

As hydrofluorcarbon (HFC)-based refrigerants are facing a ban in Europe and the US, owing to their high global warming potential, the speciality chemicals manufacturer believes the market will turn to hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)-based products, which could result in a strong rebound in fluorspar demand
DuPont Chemicals & Fluoroproducts, a subsidiary of
US-based chemicals manufacturer DuPont, announced that nearly
3m vehicles worldwide will use hydrofluoroolefin (
HFO) HFO-1234yf as a refrigerant by the end of 2014.
As fluorspar is the main raw material for the production of
fluorochemicals, new HFO-based refrigerants could restore
