China’s production of lithium-ion batteries increases, as do graphite exports

News that China’s lithium-ion battery production was strong in H1 2014 lies against the fact that China is exporting most of its graphite to be made into high-end products elsewhere.

Figures released from National Bureau of Statistics suggest that China’s lithium-ion production was at 2.4bn pieces produced – an increase of 8.4 year-on-year (y-o-y).

The data suggested that the output of this type of batteries is increasing, with 450m produced in June alone —up 4.3% y-o-y....
