Kenmare posts net loss as mineral sands markets remain subdued

Though some major pigment producers are reporting an increased demand, this has not yet translated into higher consumption of feedstocks and prices are still lower y-o-y, while some ilmenite producers are operating at a loss.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) feedstock producer Kenmare Resources posted a net loss of $31.8m for the first half of 2014, compared with a net loss of $10.2m in H1 2013 as sales volumes were offset by a reduction in product pricing.
