Nordkalk announces redundancies at Storugns limestone plant in Sweden

Planning constraints at Nordkalk AB will result in a series of redundancies taking place in 2015, following codetermination negotiations with the company’s employees. The mining company aims to continue mining limestone at the Klinthagen site, and has reapplied for permits at what is the largest limestone extraction site in Scandinavia.

The Swedish division of Finnish wollastonite and limestone producer, Nordkalk, is to progressively lay-off around 54 employees in 2015 at its Storugns limestone plant on the island of Gotland, Sweden.

Nordkalk AB had undertaken a codetermination talks with workers as a result of the uncertain timetable for its ongoing permit...
