Solvay Soda Ash to install new boiler in Bulgaria plant on cost-cutting drive

Solvay is pushing ahead with its desire to remain in the soda ash business by vying to cut costs where it can. The new steam boiler requires significant investment, but will see energy costs, which are substantial in a synthetic soda ash operation, cut by between 6-7%.

Solvay Soda Ash & Derivatives president Christophe Clemente told IM that the company has made a “significant” investment in a new steam boiler at its Bulgarian Devnya synthetics soda ash plant.
