Yara CEO resigns while incoming CEO backtracks as CF Industries merger talks continue

News that Yara’s CEO has resigned and the incoming replacement has decided to stay at Norsk Hydro will put an unwelcome sheen on merger talks with CF Industries.

Norwegian fertiliser producer Yara International ASA has replaced Jorgen Ole Haslestad as its CEO, who was planning to retire in 2015. The company will fill the gap left by his departure with Torgeir Kvidal, the current CFO and president, who will also take on the role of acting CEO.
