Canpotex to invest $140m in new shipping equipment and infrastructure at Port of Portland

The majority of Canpotex’s production, which forms one third of the total world potash exports, moves west of its mines via trains to port facilities in the Pacific Northwest, which means that the $140m planned upgrades are likely to significantly improve Canpotex’s export and shipping capabilities.

Canadian potash export consortium Canpotex will spend $140m on upgrades to its 2m tpa export facility at the Port of Portland, Oregon, US.

The group expects to incrementally increase its tonnage at the Terminal Five facility in the near future, following a long term lease extension.
