Chemtura creeps back to profit in Q3 but talks of trade-offs in bromine markets

The US chemicals producer is one of the world’s largest producers of bromine and has suffered from weakness in key brominated flame retardant markets, while the recent conflict in Gaza left it short of bromine from this region to supply non-flame retardant applications.

US speciality chemicals producer Chemtura Corp. swung back to profit for the third quarter of 2014 with net earnings of $15m, up from a loss of $44m a year ago.
