Cobre Montana enters exclusive lithium processing agreement with metallurgy firm

The mica mineral lepidolite has been an underutilised source of lithium, which is mostly extracted from brines and the mineral spodumene. Cobre’s licence deal should open up a new lithium production pathway for the company — it now needs to prove the cost competitiveness of the method.
Cobre Montana NL has entered a processing agreement with
Strategic Metallurgy Pty. Ltd. which will give the company
exclusive first rights to a processing method for the
production of lithium from its Western Australia-based
lepidolite mica deposits.
