Rare Earths 2014: Rare earths down, but not out, says industry

The resilience of rare earths juniors to the punishing impact of weak demand, low prices and general pessimism towards the market suggests that the industry has strong underlying fundamentals led by growth in magnet applications, although the prospects for cerium are generally acknowledged to be poor.

Rare earths companies are facing some of the worst market conditions in the industry’s history, market participants at the 10th International Rare Earths Conference in Singapore glumly acknowledged today.
