UK looks to shale development as new onshore oil and gas colleges approved.

The move by the government to approve so-called "shale colleges" shows its commitment to the unconventional gas sector. Make no mistake, this is a clear message from the UK government that it is serious about fracking in the UK.

The first national UK shale colleges were today given the go-ahead by Business, Enterprise and Energy Minister Matthew Hancock MP. 

The National College for Onshore Oil and Gas will be headquartered in Blackpool and linked to colleges in Chester, Glasgow and Portsmouth, Redcar and Cleveland. The college will offer courses from school level...
