Solvay continue to see growth in polymers, soda ash and silica, while rare earths lag

These Q3 2014 results are almost the mirror image of those posted three months ago, in August. The trend of high value polymers continues and these underline the struggles felt in the rare earths market – in particular in the lighting industry.

Belgian chemicals producer Solvay posted strong profit and revenue growth in its Q3 2014 results, released today, with its advanced material business posting a 1% year-on-year rise in REBITDA**.

Across the group the company posted net sales of €2.6bn ($3.24m*) and a REBITDA of €458m.
