Shareholders approve Albemarle-Rockwood merger

The deal has received regulatory clearance for the deal from the European Commission and expects the transaction to close in Q1 2015, although it has committed to providing supplemental disclosures relating to the merger in order to avoid delays from law suits.

Shareholders of US-based chemical firms Albemarle Corp. and Rockwood Holdings Inc. have approved the merger of the two companies, it was announced today.

Both companies held special meetings with shareholders respecting the merger plan, which provides that Baton Rouge-based bromine industry leader Albemarle will pay $6.2bn for New Jersey-headquartered lithium chemicals specialist Rockwood,...
