First UK shale colleges approved; Chinese province to produce graphite again after one-year suspension; Imerys SA acquires S&B Minerals
On this week’s IMTV, the
first national UK shale colleges were
this week given the go-ahead by Business, Enterprise and Energy
Minister Matthew Hancock MP, signalling a clear message from
the government that it is serious about fracking in the UK.
China's Heilongjiang and Shandong provinces are looking
forward to producing historic levels of graphite once again,
after a year of inspections by the relevant authorities, which
suspended graphite production on the back of harsh
environmental violations.
And we bring you the news that industrial minerals giant Imerys
SA bought Greece-based
bentonite producer, S&B Minerals, for €558m
($697.5m*).
Finally, Canada-based Enirgi
Group revealed last week that it is looking to become
a leading producer of lithium carbonate, with a 50,000tpa plant
scheduled to come online in 2017.
