Chatham Rock Phosphate submits closing statement to EPA hearing

A result is expected from the decision-making committee for Chatham Rock Phosphate’s contentious offshore dredging mining project within weeks. In a final statement to the EPA committee, the company outlined its repudiation of claimed environmental concerns primarily put forward by Greenpeace and the Deepwater Group.

New Zealand-based Chatham Rock Phosphate Ltd. (CRP) today submitted a closing statement to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) of New Zealand’s decision making committee (DMC), detailing its dismissal of environmental concerns, and highlighting the potential benefits of the project to the country based on its own investigation.
