The formation of the new consortium through the acquisition of five smaller rare earths separation companies in Inner Mongolia and Gansu provinces by the world-leading producer accords with Beijing’s plans to reform China’s domestic industry in order to tackle illegal mining and retain China’s competitiveness as the largest global producer.

World-leading rare earths producer, Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Rare Earth Hi-Tech Co., has completed its consolidation plan, with the formation of the China North Rare Earth Group Co.
