North Carolina expected to lift fracking moratorium; limited shale gas potential

Fracking has been a huge driver for oilfield minerals such as frac sand, bentonite and barite (barytes). The latest decision by North Carolina is positive as, even though the state has limited shale resource potential, it could set an example to other states considering the same. New York state’s recent outright banning of fracking has also been met with criticism that it is overly cautious.
