Drill rig count drops in North America in December 2014

As anticipated, the drill rig count in the US fell in December. The precipitous rise of the US shale industry, in the face of oil price reductions, could be experiencing a reality check.

Drilling rig data released on Friday by oilfield services firm Baker Hughes, which was recently acquired by former rival Halliburton Co., revealed a drop in the number of drilling rigs in North America in December 2014.
