Solvay announces sale of refrigerant business; Mexichem appeals ITC ruling

Solvay’s sale of its German based refrigerant business is in line with its strategy to focus on value added products, while Mexichem’s appeal to the ITC shows how the fluorochemical industry is threatened by the risk of cheaper products from China.

Belgian fluorspar and soda ash producer Solvay today announced that it is to sell its refrigerant and pharma propellants business to Japan’s Daikan for an undisclosed sum.
