Budget 2015: UK seeks to build on graphene research

George Osborne's 2015 budget was largely focused on the oil and gas industry with scant mention of any other kind of mining. However, there was renewed emphasis on the UK's "Northern Powerhouse" which includes generous support from graphene research.

The UK's chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne heaped benefits on the oil and gas industry in the Budget 2015, whilst appearing to steer clear of granting the same favours to mineral extraction.

However, the government's "Northern Powerhouse'" investment to improve development in the north will directly boost graphene research...
