Refractories recycling has “limited impact” on demand for primary minerals

Pressure to pursue closed loop manufacturing processes to improve sustainability and reduce carbon emissions is growing globally and in Europe in particular, however this trend has so far not made any significant impact on demand for virgin raw materials.

The recycling of used refractory products to provide a source of raw materials has only slightly dented demand for virgin minerals, recent analysis of the market shows.
