Mintek to establish multi-project southern Africa rare earths processing facility

In establishing a project-shared rare earths processing facility programme in Johannesburg, Mintek hopes to push South Africa forward as a leading rare earths separator by allowing continuous production over many years from multiple short-lived mine sites.

South Africa-based Mintek has opened a pilot rare earths solvent extraction plant in Johannesburg, with the intention of bringing a deposit-independent full scale facility to market.
