Suppliers from outside China looking to crack the Asian giant’s foundry sector face ruthless negotiation on prices, as higher quality, specialised materials prove to have limited sway in an industry under pressure from weakness in the metals markets.

Selling foundry mineral and finished products into China remains a formidable challenge for Western manufacturers, as consumers in Asia’s largest economy refuse to pull any punches on price.
