York Potash economic benefits “do not outweigh” harm, says planning committee

A 16% fall Sirius Minerals’ share price indicates that the release of this non-binding report has spooked investors anticipating the York Potash project planning decision, due 30 June. The company maintains, however, that even in the event of its application being declined, it has enough of cash in reserve for an appeal.

A report by the North York Moors National Park Authority (NYMPA) planning committee has concluded that UK-listed Sirius Minerals Plc’s proposal to mine potash within the National Park boundaries is in conflict with national planning policies.
