Guangxi further consolidates local rare earths industry

Guangxi is effectively Chinalco’s province following the latest round of rare earths reforms. Despite oversupply and low prices, the company appears to be raising production in the region, possibly owing to a favourable heavy rare earths distribution.

The Chongzuo Liutang rare earths mine in Guangxi, China, has increased production fourfold from 200 tpa to 1,000 tpa rare earths following recent provincial consolidation reforms, which have streamlined mining and exploration rights.
