Cuadrilla UK fracking licence rejected in "surprise" decision

Although the Lancashire planning officers had recommended fracking activity go ahead at Cuadrilla's Preston New Road site, the Lancashire Council has rejected the energy firm's licence on the basis of noise and visual pollution. While the company is now considering an appeal for all of its rejected licences, the government has been called on to review the decision making process, which in this case was dragged out to 15 months.
