Solaris frac silo system increases sand unloading, efficiency at fracking sites

E&P companies are facing a number of challenges, with the decline in oil and gas prices forcing operators to cut costs and increase efficiencies wherever possible, while the looming stricter OSHA requirements regarding respirable silica also raises the question of dust control. Solaris’ 12-mobile sand silo system professes to address both of these issues by reducing dust and eliminating truck demurrage on site.

Oilfield services company Solaris Oilfield Infrastructure LLC has launched a new 5m lb (2,268 tonne) mobile silica (frac) sand silo system to increase the unloading of sand at hydraulic fracturing (fracking) well sites.

The new 12-silo system was developed to complement the company’s original six-silo, 2.5m lb (1,134 tonne)...
