UK government to award 27 licence blocks for fracking

The government today followed up its promises to speed up shale oil and gas developments in the UK by announcing the recipients of 27,000km2 worth of licences for the development of energy resources.

The UK’s Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) is planning to officially offer 27 onshore blocks from its 14th Onshore Oil and Gas Licencing Round to companies in the country for the development of oil and gas resources.
