Frac sand shipments fall at US Winona port

Volumes of frac sand at Minnesota port have fallen in line with the pullback in North American fracking activity, however the impact on the logistics facility has been softened slightly by increased gypsum throughput for the fertiliser industry.

The US port of Winona in Minnesota has seen a huge drop in fracking grade silica sand (frac sand) shipments this year, as low oil and gas prices drag down US hydraulic fracturing (fracking) activity.
