Select Sands aiming to begin frac sand production by Q4 2015

Although the downturn in the oil and gas sector has caused proppant consumption to decline, according to Select Sands, demand for fine mesh, high purity sand is growing in both the industrial and energy markets. The company is looking to begin test mining as soon as possible to take advantage of this trend and begin production before the end of the year.

Select Sands Corp. is to commence test mining at its Arkansas, US, silica (frac) sand site following the completion of land clearing, with plans to begin sand production before the end of the year.
