Carbo to idle additional ceramic proppant facility in Georgia, US

Although the company predicted a movement back to ceramic proppants in July, the decision to close its second ceramic proppants facility in Millen demonstrates that a short term rebound in oil and gas industry activity is unlikely.

North American proppant producer Carbo Ceramics has announced it will be idling its ceramic proppant manufacturing facility in Millen, Georgia owing to reduced industry activity levels in the oil and gas segment.

This follows Carbo’s announcement in March that it would be reducing its workforce and cutting its quarterly dividend...
