Sheffield Resources demonstrates significant ilmenite upgrading from Thunderbird project

Mineral sands exploration company Sheffield has been focusing on reducing impurities in the ilmenite sourced from its Western Australian Thunderbird project while attempting to up the TiO2 content to produce a high quality end product, an essential sell for the company as the mineral sands segment is becoming increasingly more competitive with other juniors also racing to come online.

Test work carried out by mineral sands junior Sheffield Resources Ltd has shown that primary ilmenite from the company’s Thunderbird mineral sands project in Western Australia can be substantially upgraded using a low temperature roast process.
