Fracking part of UK’s green energy future, says shale gas task force

In its third impartial report on fracking, the UK Task Force on Shale Gas has recommended exploration goes ahead as a “bridge” between the country’s short term energy needs and a low carbon future, as long as the process is regulated and government revenue from the industry is invested in CCS and low carbon energy generation.

In its third published report, the UK Task Force on Shale Gas has advised that the development of shale gas should take place in the country, but only as long as the industry does not hinder advances in greener technology.
