Challenging paper industry pushes Nippon into “business alliance”

Japanese paper makers Nippon and Tokushu Tokai have set the groundwork to enter into formal ties within the coming year, as an ever weakening yen drives up costs.

Japan’s Nippon Paper Industries Co. Ltd will enter into a "business alliance" with rival Tokushu Tokai Paper Co. Ltd in efforts by the two paper manufacturers to streamline operations.

The three-part agreement concerns sharing a degree of manufacturing and sales operations with the aim of greater efficiency through synergies.
