South Africa’s socialist party calls for nationalisation of mines without compensation

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) political party is calling on all mining companies based in South Africa to respond to its demands, which include an increase in wages and the nationalisation of some operations. The party’s supporters have threatened to target individual mines and close their operations if they do not comply with their demands.

South Africa’s socialist political party, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has written to the country’s Chamber of Mines to call for the nationalisation of South Africa’s mines without compensation, stating that the state should own and control a minimum of 60% of the country’s mines.
