Mosaic earnings slide as potash outlook softens

The US-based fertiliser major’s potash operational capacity now stands at 67%, down from 91% y-o-y, reflecting the softening market conditions for potash. Phosphate markets are stronger, but weak demand in the key growth region of Brazil has added to substantial agrimarket headwinds.

Minnesota, US-based fertiliser producer the Mosaic Co. has announced Q3 2015 net earnings of $160m, down 20.8% year-on-year (y-o-y) from last year’s figure of $202m.

Earnings per diluted share stood at $0.45, down from $0.54 the year previous. Mosaic said that notable items negatively impacted Q3 2015’s earnings per share...
