The chemicals producer’s sales and EBITDA figures were adversely impacted by the strong US dollar. Bromine sales volumes were lower than in the same period in 2014, as price hikes took their toll. Lithium volumes picked up however, as demand for battery-grade product rose, while price rises across the performance chemicals division increased individual sale yields.
Albemarle Corp. reported
net sales of $905m for Q3 2015, down 9% on a pro-forma basis
(based on the combined results of Albemarle and Rockwood
Holdings Inc. before their merger completed earlier
this year) from net sales of $999m in Q3 2014.
Currency exchange impacts reduced sales revenue by $65m.
